COAL VALLEY — Mary Ann Martorano, 88, of Coal Valley, formerly of Three Rivers, Calif., died Monday, Dec. 3, 2018, at home.
A memorial Mass will be 5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 10, at Mary, Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Orion, immediately followed by a meal. Visitation will begin with a rosary at 4 p.m. and continue until time of service. Memorials may be made to St. Anthony Retreat Center, 43816 Sierra Dr., Three Rivers, CA 93271, where she volunteered for many years.
She was born Feb. 21, 1930, in Los Angeles, Calif., to Albert T. Sr. and Mary Ottaviano Otis. She married Alfred Martorano on Aug. 25, 1951, in Los Angeles. He died March 20, 2010.
Mary Ann sang in church choirs and was a member of St. Ignatius of Loyola Catholic Church in Los Angeles, St. Clair’s Catholic Mission in Three Rivers and then St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church in Coal Valley and Mary, Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Orion.
She was an accomplished seamstress who enjoyed knitting, crocheting, needlepoint, quilting (she was a master quilter) and all types of crafts. She also loved gardening, reading and her pets.
Mary Ann is survived by 10 children and their spouses, Frank (Faith) Martorano of Wyckoff, N.J., Ann Marie (Scott) Powers, of Santa Barbara, Calif., Christine (Jon) Martinez, of San Diego, Calif., Theresa (Brad) Keleher, of Coal Valley, John (Janet) Martorano, of Richmond, Calif., Joann Martorano, of Portland, Ore., Philip (Mary) Martorano, of Pittsburgh, Pa., Beth (Bryan) Smith, of Corralitos, Calif., Joseph Martorano, of Santa Barbara, and Stephen (Lucila) Martorano, of Santa Barbara; 23 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her husband and a son, Jamie Martorano.
